Some tips to increasing response rates:
Keep the questionnaire simple and visually appealing.
Make the questionnaire easy to complete.
Put an interesting question first to attract respondent's interest.
If you must gather personal information, ask at the end of the questionnaire.
Offer an incentive. A $1 bill is very effective. Generally, an incentive sent with the questionnaire works better than
one offered on completion.
Employ multiple contacts such as advance letters, follow-up mailings, phone calls, and emails.
Use a stamped reply envelope rather than a business reply envelope.
Print addresses directly on envelope rather than using address labels.
Include an individually printed , addressed, and signed cover letter.
Offer respondents the option to complete survey online.
Note that while some of these will increase cost, others will not.
